Useful Microsoft shortcuts included in MSWord
Ctrl p print via the print popup window
Ctrl a select all – within a document or within a folder
Ctrl s save – worthwhile pressing whenever you stop working or when working on very complicated documents that are time consuming
Ctrl o open a file
Ctrl n begin a new file without using the new file menu
Ctrl z undo whatever you just did
Ctrl x cut out what ever is highlighted in preparation for paste
Ctrl c copies whatever is highlighted in preparation for paste
Ctrl v paste whatever is on the clipboard - text, picture, clipart, etc.
Ctrl b bold the selection
Ctrl i italicize the selection
Ctrl u underline the selection
Notice the underlined letters on the toolbars. Alt + that letter will access that menu. Can be combined in a sequence to reach a desired location. *
Example: Alt O F C will bring you directly to the text color selection menu
Possible User-defined shortcuts : Locate these via the tools > customize > keyboard menu. Select the category and the command you wish to create a shortcut key for. NOTE: there are others built into Word that you may want to try. These may also be changed if you do not use them and want the sequence available for something else.
